Square and Circle Club/Yeong Jang Family AAS Graduate Studies Scholarship
Jewel De Fremery was awarded the Square and Circle Club/Yeong Jang Family AAS Graduate Studies Scholarship this year. She is a Spring 2025 graduate with a double major in Asian American Studies and Criminal Justice Studies. Jewel is returning to SFSU in the fall for the Asian American Studies master’s program. She has aspirations of entering law school afterward. She has also worked with nonprofits like the Nichi Bei Foundation and DVAN to participate in community showcases and events.
Square and Circle/Elaine Jang Grand Scholarship
Johnson Lei is the recipient of the Square and Circle Club/Elaine Jang Grand Scholarship in 2025. He plans to transfer from City College of San Francisco to UCLA in the fall of 2025 to major in biology. Besides maintaining a 4.0 GPA, Johnson actively participates in community work and service. He volunteers with the Chinatown Volunteering Coalition and is part of the leadership team for the Night Market and Asian Pacific Heritage Festival. At CCSF, he is the Pre-Med Club Events Coordinator. Johnson’s career goal is to become a medical doctor.
Square and Circle Club/Elaine Jang Scholarship
Jingrong (Eva) Chen is the recipient of the Square and Circle/Elaine Jang Scholarship. Eva is a graduating senior from Thurgood Marshall Academic High School and has been admitted to Stanford University in the fall of 2025. Eva’s career interests lie in finance and marketing, and she has already demonstrated a strong foundation in leadership, civic engagement, and academic excellence. Her extracurricular involvement includes:
- Chinese American Democratic Club
- Tutoring at Marshall High School
- SFUSD Summer Internships
- Mock Trial
- School Site Council
- JCYC Upward Bound

Square and Circle Club Nursing Scholarship
Ruyi Meiying D. Jiang Su has been awarded this year’s Square and Circle Club Nursing Scholarship. Ruyi is an exceptional student who has demonstrated both academic excellence and a deep commitment to community service. She is a graduate of Galileo Academy of Science & Technology, and has been admitted to the University of California at Davis. She aspires to a career in nursing, where her passion for science and service can make a meaningful impact.
Her experience reflects a strong foundation in healthcare and volunteerism, including involvement with:
